News From The Clinic – Summer 2026

I want to thank all of our volunteers and Dominican partners for another extraordinary week at the clinic. This group was especially meaningful for us, as we welcomed many new faces: 15 first-time volunteers who brought fresh energy, compassion, and commitment to our work.

Seeing them integrate so naturally into the team and embrace our mission was truly inspiring, and a reminder of how powerful it is when people come together with a shared purpose. As always, none of this would be possible without the generosity of our benefactors—thank you.

A highlight of the week was completing over 600 laboratory tests, well above our usual average. This milestone reflects not only the growing demand for our services, but also the efficiency and coordination of our team. Each test represents an opportunity for earlier diagnosis, better treatment decisions, and improved long-term outcomes for our patients. It’s a meaningful step forward in strengthening the quality of care we provide.

We are grateful for the continued growth of our organization and the dedication of everyone involved. Each jornada reminds us of what’s possible when we work together with intention and care. Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we keep building on this momentum. Onward to October!

Our first visit to Somos Amigos was an incredibly meaningful experience. Having volunteered with several organizations over the years, this one truly stands out. The clinic is exceptionally well organized and efficient, and it genuinely feels like a team—everyone is enthusiastic, committed, and there to serve others.

We were warmly welcomed and treated with such kindness by the entire Somos Amigos team, which made the experience even more special. The work was long and demanding, but deeply rewarding. The patients were gracious and appreciative, and even with language barriers, there was a strong sense of connection and understanding.

What makes this organization unique is its commitment to the community. This is not just about providing care and leaving—it’s about building relationships and ensuring continuity. With the plans for the new facility and ongoing care, the impact will only continue to grow. We are truly grateful to have been part of it.

I wanted to bring my son with me on a dental humanitarian trip so he could experience both the hard work and the joy that come with serving others. Somos Amigos has been one of the best experiences I’ve had in humanitarian work. It is incredibly well organized, and everyone is truly committed to serving others. We arrive with the intention of giving, but in the end, we are the ones who feel most impacted. Seeing the gratitude of the people we serve, and knowing we are making a difference in their lives, is a truly one-of-a-kind experience.

"I’ve been coming to this clinic for over 15 years. Throughout that time, I’ve received treatments and undergone many medical procedures that would not have been possible without this clinic. I am deeply grateful for the care I’ve received—it has truly been one of the most important blessings in my life to have this clinic in our community."
